Question, that battery box can't go any lower?

I've just ordered the exact same box with hopes of tucking it 100% underneath the lid...........

hey classic, nah thats as low as it goes. I was gonna find a spacer and cover it with black carpet to hide the ugly-ness.
Although, the curvature of the chassis makes it easy to dump the vent hose. there is a rubber plug right under where I mounted the box, so all i had to do was drill it out, and stuff the tube through it.

You could always just get a fully sealed battery adn mount it with out the box. cosmo kreamer did that with his FD.

Ahh, thanks for the reply...

That doesn't look all too bad, I'll have to rig up some kind of spacer like you mentioned to keep the lid stable.

Nice FC by the way, loving the engine build Going to be lots of fun to rip around in.

i obviously had to take the bottom carpet out of the bin to fit the top on.

Thanks classic, i'm sure it will be a fun ride, i am dying to find out!!

I bought injectors from Fatty_FC3S back in nov. they seemed like they were in good shape when i bought them, but they sat around for a few months and one of the lintel caps broke. Upon further inspection, the wires in the clips where slightly corroded. So I figured this is a good time to check the cc's of the injectors and make sure they are in top shape. I took them to the guys at AZTPI.com They flow tested them before and after. They were running 96% before, and are at 98% now.

Also got a little surprise. I bought the injectors thinking they were 720, turns out they are 750s.

nope. i got the injectors on Tuesday, but elliot is in vegas for the drag racing event this weekend, shop is locked up. So no real progress till Monday. should be able to start it up next week.

I got a new oil pan drain plug from mazdatrix. we are gonna tap it and mount the oil temp sensor there.

Also got the turbo II decals from them. I only ordered one thinking it was a pair... it isnt.

for the battery relocation, why dont you cut out the area in the front of the bin? then move the battery forward a bit and move it lower by doing this. i wounder what if any support this area gives to the car.

hey highway, it wont make any difference if I try to move the bin forward. that is the lowest is will go. you would have to massage the body to make it fit, but then you would reun into the frame under the car.

Who is this guy, and who let him in this club?!!?!
Ya bro, your car is stickly track, but somehow, you get away with drving it on the street!!! What was it weighed at? 2100 lbs?

Here is the skinny on my ride. wieghed at 2500 lbs!!
The cleaned oil cooler is installed. All fittings are connected for the oil system, and the engine has been primed. No leaks. It took 7 qts of oil so far!

We tried to start it on Saturday, but couldn't get the ECU to communicate with the laptop and software. We could've started it anyway, but would really like the communication between ecu and software to be fixed first. That should be solved soon.

All I need is an air filter, a uim/lim gasket, and a crakcase hole plugged.

WHAAAA? mine is brand new also, but i'll be damned if I'm paying for them to fix a busted ECU!!! Hope this isnt the issue.

Elliot checked the ECu and said it wasn't fried, not exactly sure how he can tell, but that's why he gets paid to do what he does.

Damn.. nice thread there! That is turning out to be one nice ride! I'm in the plans of going with an s4 N/A (the seatbelts.) and doing an S5 styling, T2 conversion, but the T2 thing might have to wait a while.

hey asterisk, the s5 interior is much nicer, just little things ya know. But i found out what parts do and don't fit.

the A pillar and B pillar trim doesnt match up because of the seat belts, so I did some painting on the s4 peices.

Also, the bin support is different. Since I didnt have an S5 one, I just cut and sanded the s4 plastic to fit.

Good luck on the t2 build.

so the problem with the ecu was the $40 cable i got from best buy. we hooked it up with a 9 pin serial cable to my friends laptop and it worked.

The car cranked and fired once, but then fuel came from under the engine. Looks like there was a leak in the pulsation dampener, and the previous builder put a skrew in the hole!!!!! I really can't believe that we are STILL finding shoty work from this clown!

Anyway, we are gonna get a banjo bolt and fitting to delete that PD and then it should be fine. Fuel pressure was down to 10 psi. So looks like we are just about ready to tune!!!

ON my FD I had a problem with the pulsation dampener and I just tapped the fuel rail and installed a fitting to clamp a fuel hose directly to it. I have an aftermarket FPR though so it has dampening built into it.

Good luck!

Glad to hear it fired!

Let the tuning begin.
I haven't snapped any shots in a while, not much to see (excpet some dude messing with a laptop). Everything seems fine, we are just trying to start the car. The only base map we could find, was from a NA so that might have got us close, but not close enough to start.

This is Elliot's first motec, and I get to hear about all the cool features and abilities it has over other systems. He seems real impressed with what it can do.

I am suprised at how fast he got it hooked up, now it's just fine tuning the maps to get a start.

I should probobly find some seats to put in the car, and fix the driver-side door handle so I can put the door panels back on.

You mean those FD seats that weren't mounted aren't going to cut it?
