My AE used to have one, but the previous owner advised me to remove it due to the accuracy of it. He said it could a psi or two off, which isn't good for a highly moddified TII. I cannot say i have any bad experiences with it, but the previous owner, who knows his ****, advised me to sell it and get a MBC.

I have noticed mine to be about 2psi off but I leave myself that margin for error!

but I think that it has something to do with the in line filter going to the controller.

I'll let you know as soon as I install mine...probably next week.

I have read all its supposed problems, but I also know people who have no issues, and it works great

Its certaily a little bit more involved to set up than the original...

I have to say that anybody who knows what they are talking about would not recommend a manual boost controller over an EBC. EBC's are much better, whether is a Profec or someother other controller. At least get the origional Profec B if you don't want the spec II. An electronic controller will build boost faster and should maintain it more accurately.

As for the Spec II, I have not yet had any problems with mine. it seems to be working great if i'm running 1bar or 1.3. FWIW, I have a .7 bar spring.

I took off all the Greddy Profecc and Rebic boost and injector controls off my TII because it was worthless **** that promoted detonation. Greddy stuff sucks ***, if you ask me. I wasted big $$$ on that crap.

I have a Specll on my 87 tll and it works great if you set it up right. I will admit that tuning it is hard but once you have it set right its solid.

if it's a psi or 2 off it's because it's reading turbo outlet pressure and not TB pressure which will be different.... your boost gauge will read TB pressure which will be lower. unless the controller has a line to the TB to read boost. in which case ignore...

Yeah, that was a bad bit of advice.

I can almost guarantee that nearly all problems with electronic boost controllers on FC's is actually caused by the controller trying in vain to deal with boost creep. Unless you have rock-solid control of your boost without a controller, you'll never have proper boost control with one.

All an EBC does is delay the opening of the wastegate and then regulate the flap position to keep boost where you set it. it cannot increase wastegate flow, so if the wastegate's fully open and it can't flow any more, your expensive controller is basically useless.

Where is the best nipple to take the pressure source from that goes into the NC port on the solenoid?

EBC's don't read boost pressure at the turbo, they have a separate pressure sensor that should be connected to a post-TB nipple or teed into a post-TB line (MAP sensor, BOV). The solenoid valve gets connected to the turbo and wastegate.

Can you just T it in with the boost guage line you already have run through the fire wall? At least I do because of my boost gauge. Is this wrong? In the instructions that came with the specII it said to T into the fuel pressure regulator! What up with that should I!

Yes, that'll be okay.

They say that because on piston engines the FPR line is easy to identify and access. That's not true for 13BT's. It doesn't matter which line you tee into, as long as it's fed from after the throttle.

That's not too good England...

I'm thinking that i fed off the middle nipple on the front side of the UIM by the TB... there is a row of three there and I think that middle one is the one that everyone should use... but I'll have to re look at my car tonight... that detail seems to be slipping my mind right now.

Actually, the BOV line is probably the worst line to use. The valve can cause flutter in the reading and cause seemingly erratic problems. The FPR and boost gauge/ controller should be off the same port.

The BOV should have a port of it's own.
