Product Review-CP racing 4 point rear strut bar
well, I ordered the 4 point bar from CP racing and Design in Orangevill Ont. They shipped it in about 2 weeks after the day I sent the money order.
It is the bar the connects to the floor, and to the shock towers about mid way up. It requires drilling two holes.
Unfortunately it is made to fit with carpet, so i needed a little spacer. I also needed two provide my own nuts and bolts, as they did not provide any.
Hint- when looking for the 2 bolts for the floor (7 X 1.0) good luck finding them, I found it easier to drill and retap for a common bolt (8 X 1.25).
2 holes need to be drilled and the car needs to be jacked up a bit so you can reach in to put in the bolt behind the spring
once on, I hooked up my seat belt, a 3- point harness, fits perfect. looks great feels great.
took it on the road, and it actually surprised me by tightening up the rear chassis quite a bit. i turned out to be impressed. for 125 cdn shipped to my door, i am very happy. good job on a fairly original part, hats off to cp racing, I bet it would look even better if i had carpet to fit it proper.
I will post pics tommorow when the weathers better, and I 'll get pics of my new ss cooler lines

yeah. I really like mine too.
also, I didn't have any problems finding the right bolts, and it fit good without the carpet. there was like 1/16 inch gap between teh bar and the towers, which dissapeared when I tightend the bolts.
and yeah, can't beat the price - $70 shipped U.S. currency

I got a motor from them. I recommend them to ANYONE. They havent given me one little thing to complain about Plus they have some killer prices. I think their 3 way front strut bars are like 100$?

Lets see some pic's I would like to compare it to my Auto Power 4 point cage. Bummer about the bolts not coming with the kit. I hope it did come with a plate that is used on the opposite side to sandwich the uni-body.

yes it came with the plates, but unfortunately no bolts. it was just the 2 bolts that were size 7 x 1.0

Since we're on the topic, I wanted to clarify one thing. I have the front bar and there was a thread about it before. Several people were saying it didn't fit them correctly. It fit just fine on my car. I can't understand how it couldn't fit as it is designed to support a good amount of tolerance between cars. Personally I have a tough time believing that those flimsy ebay bars do anything. How stiff is your chasis? Will adding a flexible/weak structure, albeit in a good place, do anything to stop it from moving?

CP Racing - I picked up my FC from them and Chris is top notch. He and CP Racing both live up to their motto: "Integrity, Innovation and a commitment to excellence." Haven't heard of one disgruntled customer yet...

Is that rear bar going to be enough to support a 5 point harness? Clearly it will attach just fine and all, but am I going to take heat when I show up at tech and they see that?

it looks of quality that would be adequate, providied you use a bolt that is of proper grad (8 or 12 not sure). Obviously a roll bar would be ideal though for the harness

how exactly does it attach to the rear strut towers? is it like the fronts and just bolt on over the tops?
and about the front triangulated strut tower brace, isnt the firewall kinda flimsy to begin with? it doest seem like such a good thing to mount somthing structural too.

the problem with the strut tower bar CP racing makes it that it attaches to the sheet metal around the shock towers. As we know they are pretty flimsy. A better design would be to bolt to the shock mounting bolts in the rear. I'm willing to bet the sheet metal will deform if your car underwent a savere load on one side of the rear axle
