Talking Problems with my starter or ignition?

I just had my starter rebuilt about 2 months ago because of a slow start and it would sometimes stick, so I would hit it with a hammer and vroom. Now it has started this little pain in the *** problem, that on occasion it will not even try to start. I'll turn the key, and not even hear a "click" from the starter. I called the people who rebuilt it and they said they would have repaired the soilinoid when they rebuilt the starter. He didn't seem to think they needed to look at the soilinoid again. So, what I'm getting at is how would I test to see if it is the ignition switch?

I've also checked the battery cables, cleaned and reseated them. After I push the car off, it will start the next few times and do it again. Thanks for any help.

if the solenoid does not even click,

I would check first the cable for battery + to solenoid
and the ground strap on starter

then, you may want to worry about the ignition switch or anything in between (a wiring diagram from FSM would be helpful)

Cool, I'll do that. I guess the next thing is producing the problem at a convienient location to check the voltage when it won't crank. Thanks
