When the engine stops running, air stops coming thru the vane in the AFM which in turn means the vane goes full closed which in turn means the mico switch in the AFM OPENS and removes the ground signal to the Circuit Opening Relay which in turn means the relay OPENS cutting off voltage to the fuel pump which in turn means you now should know why the Circuit Opening Relay makes a click when the engine dies.

Jumper the fuel pump check connector and leave it jumpered. Go for a ride and see if you still have the problem.

Oh, my fault, I meant the fuel pump relay resister. On the S5 it shows it on the fender by the pressure sensor. I do not see this on my S4 as it stands.

Did you do what Hailers said in post #8? If not, why are you still asking for help?

we had already replace the relay under the dash. hes also checked the afm the connections at the fuel pump. the issue didn't start happening until he went with the T3/T4 turbo.

could be the flux capacitor but that thing runs a 175,000.LOL

Did you test it before you replaced it? Or have you replaced a perfectly good relay?

hes also checked the afm the connections at the fuel pump.
There are no AFM connections at the fuel pump...

There are instructions in the FSM for checking the AFM to make sure the fuel pump safety switch in the AFM and that the circuit opening relay it controls are working proprtly. And then there's Hailers' simple little test...

im sorry i mean that he checked the afm connections and also the wiring at the fuel pump. sorry NZ. the relay was good because we pulled it out of my running car to test. i did through his in mine and haven't had any issues with it though. he hasn't been by in a few days but i will test that for him. it doesn't happen all the time from what he tells me its just kind of an intermitant thing though.??????

So jumper the fuel pump check connector and leave it that way for a week or so. If the problem stops occuring then it's most likely an loose or dirty connection in the AFM causing intermittent interruption of the safety switch circuit.
