Problems with ignitio wiring and starting the car
hi guys,
ever since i have owned the car, the car did not require the clutch to be pushed in for the car to start?
what did the previous owner do to this?
also, whenever i start the car, the ignition loses power and therefore my starting kill switch does not function properly.
can anyone advise as to what to do with both situation?
i want it so that my ignition does not lose power whenever the car is started.
thanks!

First problem. There is a switch on the clutch called the "interlock switch" and its purpose is to prevent the car from being started w/o pressing the clutch. In your case either the switch has been removed and its two wires connected or the switch is still there but its two wires have been jumpered together. The switch should be easy to find and has a Black/Red wire and a Black/Green wire as well.
Second problem. When you say the ignition loses power are you suggesting that it briefly loses power or completely loses power for a period of time? If it's breifly it's because only the fuses necessary for startup receive voltage and the others lose their's momentarily such as the radio or windshield wipers, etc for example. If this were the case then your switch that loses power needs to recieve voltage from the IG1 fuses in the interior fuse box.

Just a word of caution to Satch...................many/some early 86-87 did not come with the interlock switch and therefore the clutch did/does not need to be depressed for starting the car. I own one of these cars........if not two of these cars. Ones a 87 TurboII and the other is either the 86 non turbo or 87 non turbo, can't remember which ain't a gonna go look to see.
