problems with 88 fc

I am looking at a 88 fc3s n/a. Heres the problems, the gears clunk when engaged and it vibrates. Im thinking its the rear diff. Am i right on my assumtion?

Also about how much would it cost to get both of them replaced?

Are they easy to replace or do i need to take it somewhere? I know enough about cars to fix afew problems but theres alot i dont know. Is this a simple thing or no?

why is it a pain? im going to go get that car manual from one of the autostores that tells you how to fix everything in yoru car. I got one for my sentra and that things saved me thousands of dollars.
