hey guys, i need your help. my 89 gtu na keeps producing an error code for the CAS. I think that because of that my timing won't advance. its actually retarding. I had the fuel injectors sent in to be cleaned and flow tested, ecu refurbished, new tps, and 4 different CAS were tried on it but it still hasn't fixed the problem. we are going to switch out the engine wiring harness today and see how that goes. I checked for vacuum leaks but there isnt any. At least me and the mechanic can't find any. does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?? i appreciate all the help i can get. thanks.

 

reset the ecu? ever tried that one? like taking the negative wire from the battery for at least 5 seconds?

 

Check the CAS plug where the engine harness joins the body harness on the spark plug side. Clean and repack with dielectric grease.

 

^^ Aaron's tip is the best bet.

Also route the spark plug wires away from the CAS wires.
Also check the small square black filter capacitor that mounts on the clutch slave.
