The automatic does rule out the push/pull starting.

I like Aaron's suggestion of push starting with a blanket and another vehicle, I had to push a friend's RX7 a long way by hand until we found a big hill to get it going (dead battery, not flooding). We had another vehicle there, but no way to push or pull the car and no jumper cables.

When deflooding, make sure that the battery is charged or jump the vehicle, often low battery voltage will cause the car to crank slowly enough that it won't fire.

I seriously would check compression before I spent any more time on trying to get this car running.

Still, if the body is good, the car is worth $250.00, drop a used 13b in there (probably another $250.00) and be up and running again.

One of the most common causes for a glowing cat or header is an ignition issue causeing grossly retarded timing. A blown leading ignitor or coil will do this.

Pull one of the leading plugs, and see if you have any spark when you crank it over...

I just bought a used s5 motor for 150 bucks with questionable internals...i only bought the whole thing cause thats a good deal and im gonna use lotsa parts off of it...and its good for rebuild and porting practice.

Thats my point..if you need a new motor used ones arent that bad, you can either rebuild it yourself if your determined and competent enough or you can pay to get it rebuilt.

automatic doesnt rule out push starting you just have to push it up to like 40mph for it to work.

ok i am drying out the plugs as we speak ,along with the engine,i removed both EGI fuses, i held the gas down for 10 sec, full throttle, twice, the spark plugs were soaked with gas, so it seems like it was definately flooded, but if it dosent start up then we got a problem

Check your coils, like somebody already said the leading coil could have possibly failed...which means both coils have to be replaced leading and trailing.

Now, take an ohmmeter, pop off the plastic cover on the coil. It comes off really easy by the way. There will be 2 bolts with connections there, check the resistance of the coil. Below 1 ohm is acceptable, if its too like below 0.5 ohms it might be bad..or the ignitors could be fried.

Wait, can you push/pull/ roll start an automatic. I've only ever done it on a manual.

Squirt a little motor oil in the spark plug holes to help give it some compression. It will smoke on start up but that will burn off after about a 5 mile run.

*UPDATE* today i found out it it is sparking, it is getting fuel, sprayed ether in it and it still wont fire up,so im thinking the compression...but then again what else could it be? I'm thinking it might be something else, hopefully, but anyone got any ideas?
