Primary Injector Rail Plastic Spacer

We may have found the problem. The bracket on the primary fuel rail is not parallel to the fuel rail itself. I'd guess that at some time in the past someone let the plastic spacer slip out and in torqueing it down bent the bracket.

So I put the rail in the vise and worked to get the bracket parallel to the rail. But with the plastic spacer in the bottom of the rail doesnt touch either of the rubber grommets on top of the injectors. The o-rings are fully inside.

Is that bad? With the plastic spacer removed the fuel rail sets right down on top of the grommets. I dont know if the spacer is just a spacer or an insulator too. I'm guessing the latter.

Or should I got ahead and bend the bracket some more?

Thanks

Interestingly, on page F2-50 of the S5 Turbo FSM the illustration doesnt show the rubber grommets on top of the injectors; only the o-rings. Are the grommets a JDM only thing?

I don't know squat about series five, but the Parts Fische is available in the FAQ. Two jpg attached.

On series five, the lower grommet seems to be a different size than that for a series four.

Interesting that the fiche and the FSM dont match. But clearly the grommets on top and bottom of the injector are used to provide sealing pressure and I bet compensate for imperfect alignment. We're gonna pull the injectors and the spacer and begin bending the rail down, put the spacer and injecters back in, lather, riinse and repeat.

Remember, they are two different size/type grommets. Just a reminder.

Yes, the top ones have two ridges around the outside rim (top and bottom) while the bottom ones are solid.
