Price of an FC T2 Project Car
Price of an FC T2 Project Car
Hello, does anyone know about what I should expect to pay for a preferably later year FC 88+ T2. I am looking to use it as a project car, so I dont need: paint job, rims, tires, front bumper, (blown engine is OK), front seats.
can anyone estimate about how much this would cost me? Preferably from $800-1,500?
-thanks

I paid $550 for a mint condition garaged TII with a blown rear seal, $500 for a not so mint running TII, and $475 for another running TII. I suggest you check charity donation auctions. People donate rotaries to auctions because the price to repair them dealerwise is very high and the donee gets the tax write off for the "running" condition bluebook value because even with a blown engine, rotaries in limp mode will still "run" thereby if they can drive in, they qualify for the full tax deduction. The auction buyers normally ignore them because they are bad running rotaries. This keeps the price low, and the competition minimal. It is a great scam for rotary junkies, and good old Uncle Sam makes it all happen.

nwaco, the charity auctions, what are the chances i'd find one? Also, if I call up organizations that auction off donated cars, would they be able to tell me if there are any FC TIIs avail?

Many of them have websites that they list the cars in their upcoming auctions. I find them in my area, and bookmark them. I check them out during the week. Most auctions are on weekends, and most have them once a month or every other weekend. Most auctions I find, list the cars by make/model only. I look for RX7's first, then the year. I only seek 2nd gens, and really only want TII's. I do buy N/A's mainly to resell, and sometimes for parts. Many sites show pictures of the cars, and then I look for the givaway "the hoodscoop". Almost never will an RX7 be listed as a turbo. Mostly because many are not marked as such, and the auctioneers could care less and probably are not "car people". A secret is to look for the "non-runners". RX7's frequent this section, and many a time, its a loose intake duct that puts it there. Good bidding. There, now my secret is out.
Try to find places that end up with bank-repo'd cars....
Also, I've noticed that a lot of times, those little hole-in-the-wall type garages sometimes have FCs just chillin' in the back, all forgotten. You can always ask about them.
