Presilencer Whats it do? Searches turn up lotsa info

So I know this has been asked so I am sure someone will be annoyed at me asking again... but what do I gain from the presilencer? Is it to make the exhaust quieter or something like that? I only ask since have the RB true dual header and need to know if I should get the presilencer or say screw it and build the rest of my exhaust without it in place. Thank you

It helps to make the exhaust quieter.Basically a straight thru muffler.

pre silencer helps to quiet the exhaust.... also to help w/ backpressure and to keep the 6 port actuators functional...... this is the racing beat cat/presilencer........ most aftermarket presilencers dont help to keep the actuators functional

I have a 91 NA so I have the air pump to help with 6pi and need not worry about any backpressure for actuators...

Thanx for the help guys I guess I will just go custom from header and see how it sounds... if I don't like it I can always work on it more

But so much to do before that even matters honestly, too bad its supposed to be 15 for a high tomorrow... makes car work damn near unbearable... GO UNDER ARMOR GO!!!

once again thanx for the help peeps

I have a header with a pre silencer on my s5 na. IT has no 5th 6th ports because I have a ported motor. It is pretty damn loud you also have to keep in mind it is 2.5" single exit exhaust. I also have no cats as there are no emissions in my city...

I am rolling with the road race system so I can imagine that it will not matter about the collected being louder.

It's just a muffler. makes the sound of the car deeper, at least my RB.
Looks good under there for the police.

have you actually looked intside the rb pre-silencer. it really doesn't do much for creating backpressure. it is nothing more then a straight pipe with some holes in it according to the exhuast gasses.

the presilencer will help with making things a tad bit quieter. the main thing I noticed it did though was tone the high pitched stuff down and make it a little deeper in pitch.
sounds better that way imho
