Cool Precautions

I have an 86 GXL... with an automatic transmission. My previous 2 RX7s were 5 speed. I just wondered if anyone could give me any tips on them. Any standard mantainance issues I should know about, rebuild times, ect. Also, I was wondering if there was a way to change the shifters... The one in my repair manual looks different from the one that I have.

The shifter **** has a small screw that comes out. Remove that and the **** will come off. The **** has a small 2 prong connector on it. If I remember correctly, its for the O/D on off switch. Nothing out of the ordinary for the auto tranny maintenance. It has a filter in the pan and you need to make sure the fluid is full (not over full, but if its low, wierd **** starts to happen). I swapped my auto tranny for a manual. Its not too difficult once you get all the parts on hand, and there are several detailed write ups about it in case you are interested in going that route.
