Convertible-Behind the seat ideas??

Ok, more brain storming needed...

On the area where the spare is located behind seats....any ideas or has anyone modified that space with something useful? I was thinking of putting speakers there...not much else one can do....

Pictures would be wonderful....

If you remove the spare, there is plenty of room for whatever. In 18 years, my spare has never been out of there so the chances you really need it are?

yeah you could put the spare in the trunk like in a coupe, the only issue is where to put your flat original wheel/tire when the spare is being used.

I have no spare at all. AAA card and a can of fix-a-flat with a mini compressor are my only hopes.

Does a 205/60/15 fit under the rear shelf? I'm sure it must, but I always thought the shelf might need to be left loose. What about something bigger?

No, it does not, however Mazda thoughtfully put on a couple of string ties so that the fullsize tire and wheel can be put there and then the cover be put back on.

It just sits about 2 inches raised with a full size wheel/tire in there.
