Precat Removal from 87 T2

I am installing a full RB exhaust system, and I would like to know the easiest way to get the precat off. How can i remove the shroud to get it out of the way -- My split air tube plate dosent fit, i dont think so anyways---any other tips that would help me on my install would be great.

Installed a mid-train down pipe yesterday on my '87TII. The best tip I can give you is put the car on a car rack or jack stand the night b4 you start the install and let the car cool down then spray the studs and nuts down with some wd40. Let it work all night, the next day will go much easier for you. We cut the heat shield off that covered the first part of the pre-cat, had trouble getting it off. Are you going to turbo wrap you pipe? I found a shop here in Tulsa that could ceramic coat my pipe, looks great.

yeah, I planned on wrapping the dp. I got all the bolts off except for the one on the top which is covered by the shroud on all sides.

Exclamation

For some strange reason they decided to bolt that top one right on the middle of the dang header. Wierd and IMO stupid. Anyways, if you want access to that last bolt, you're gonna have to move some 'stuff' out of the way like the Air flow sensor and what not. if you're going to remove th headers anyways, then there's really no need to take off the top heat shield as it is part of th headers anyways. Good luck!

Peace,
AJ ^_^
