precat and hangers

I saw where someone said that the precat was only used for cold startups. Is that true? I was going to put it back on but it is slightly rusted so I figured I would swap it out with a bonez downpipe.

I also need a place to get all the hangers from front to back. Racing beat has a full kit for over $135 bucks. I thought that was a little high!

What kind of exhaust are you getting? And no its not used for cold start up. The down pipe is the way to go. but if you can wel dand you ahve your stock exhaust, just take those hangers and weld it on to the new one. But if you looking for an exhaust, xsx power has a nice single side, or you can do racing beat full turbo back which adds 60 horse.

Theres no way a racing beat exhaust adds 60hp, Also swap to the downpipe and go to your local muffler shop they maybe able to fab you some hangars alot cheaper.

The REV-TII exhaust adds 59hp over stock with the corresponding modifications, fuel cut defender and a ported turbo wastegate. I'm curious if this car is Turbo or NA? They make NA downpipes that eliminate the pre-cats
EDIT: Just looked at the profile and he has a 10AE. The Racing Beat REV-TII exhaust is the only way to go with a ported wastegate and FCD

Chop the hanger off of the stock Y pipe..I'm sure if you are adding a Down pipe that you won't be using the Stock y pipe and the Stock cans anymore..besides it would sound like **** anyhow...thinking also that the Pipe would extend to the Y pipe anyhow wouldn't It?.(on an N/a it eliminates the cat does it not?)

No it does not elimimate the main cat, only the pre-cats so the main cat can still be used

I got a new 2.25" system from the exhaust manifold. A downpipe to a new cat, a hiflow muffler(resonator) and a straight pipe to the 4" cannon at the back. The guy who fab'd it made new hangers and grinded down all the old ones, it looks awsome, it doesnt rattle, i just have to be careful over speedbumps cos it sits alot lower.

Definite power gain, and the engine sounds alot nicer, its come to life!

He's talking about the rubber hangers, guys.
The car uses a mix of two kinds...simple doughnut/fat o-rings and two hole types.
Both styles are available (in a variety of sizes) from generic auto parts stores.
Mine came from PepBoys and Autozone and were considerably cheaper than the OEMs from Mazdatrix.

yea, sorry for the late reply. I was talking about the rubber hangers. I will hit pep boys and see if they have them. I really want a racing beat Rev TII but after the FCD and replacing the hangers it is so hard for me to spend $1200+ on an exhaust. Guess I will just need to bite the bullet and go for it.

I knew about the FCD but is porting the wastegate really neccessary? I just want to get her back on the road. There was some rust on the exhaust and the fumes in the cabin were getting really bad so I yanked the entire system and now she is sitting in my garage looking very sad!!

if u get DP u might wanna spend a little bit extra to get the RB or corksport DP because bonez is only the DP and the other ones are DP plus midpipe (together) to cat.
