Um pre detonation means preSPARKdetonation ... in other words the fuel burns before the spark lights it. Like a diesel. Now were learning.... this is neat ... so i called your pre ignition something else deal with it sucka

Right, I'm learning... You're attempting to use a term that applies to nuclear chain reactions to describe how your engine works. Predetonation is NOT a term to describe ANY event in a combustion engine. Look it up.

I was simply telling you that you were using a term that doesn't exist. I told you politely for your own benefit. If you wish to remain ignorant and look foolish to other car enthusiasts, that is your perogative, although I can't understand your reasoning for it.

Diesel engines do not run on preignition. They do not run on detonation. They run on compression ignition. Compression ignition is not the same thing as preignition, nor detonation.

So, are you done teaching me yet?

^^ dont be a douche bag..

do you think it really matters if the kid said predetonatin or preignition or detonation.. yes you may have a point.. but his statement was understood. your point however is not so clearly understood.. does it make you feel like your contributing something by starting an argument over the missuse of a word..
i think some people on this forum need to be a little more humble..

ol and for your future reference here is a definition of detonation:

1. the act of detonating.
2. an explosion.
3. Machinery. the premature spontaneous burning of a fuel–air mixture in an internal-combustion engine due to the high temperature of air compressed in a cylinder.

detonation is a product of compression and heat..

this happens BEFORE spark.... that means you dont know what your talking about so you shouldnt rag on someone and act like you know everything..

what happens after spark is ignition.

That definition is incorrect.

Read any SAE paper on the subject rather than quoting dictionary.com. Even wikipedia got it right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking

detonation & deflagration referse to a process of combustion.. detonation can occur pre or post ignition.. it is a process of combution that propagates by way of a compressive shock..

i dont know if you noticed that i stated that "here is a definition of detonation:" notice the "a". there are a half dozen definitions of detonation. im happy you found another.

http://www.sae.org/technical/papers/1999-01-3324

and^^ right there is a sae paper you so proudly flaunt that references detonation occuring before ignition.

im afraid you missed the point of my post... so ill restate it.

dont be a douche..

I had one that was being sold with everything on it IE, tranny, diff... basically everything connected to the drive train for $500. But since there weren't any takers I decided to use it in another project.

ohhh the days, i remember when my 6port was turbo'ed. i did the spacer and notched the frame out. it wasnt as bad as everyone said it would be. this forum helped alot. it ran great untill the turbo couldnt take the constant 12PSI i gave it. then i bumped the turbo to just a LITTLE bigger (bigger compressor) and i was cruising in 5TH gear at a low RPM, i punched it and my boost jumped to 12PSI before the secondaries kicked in...BOOOOMMM!
6 port turbo's make good power...just be carefull!!

i was running a rtek1.7 also.

good luck!!
and port the HELL out of the wastegate and the boost creep will be gone. i had a 3 inch exhaust all the way back, 3 inch TID and had a SOLID 12PSI with a manual boost controller in the glove box. NEVER had boost creep afterwards.

heres a pic for ya.

as you can see i ported as much as i could
