Pre-cats

I searched but no real answers. I am running shorty Bonez high-flow cat with stock exhaust. My 2 pre-cats are hollow, but look like hell. Does the RB down pipe replace these or should I just find a local exhaust shop to custom make a replacement?

save your money and get a good cheap local shop to do it. custom is always more fun. instant. which is good. and then telling people youve had custom parts made just makes is sound like you know more. that you arent a bolt on *****. and your close enough if something happens to the part your close enough to complain.

You should probably check and see if local shops will actually make it for you- even living where I do with no emissions checks required, I've heard that many exhaust shops are reluctant to replace existing cats with pipe. If they will and you can get it done cheaper than you could get the manufactured ones, I don't see any reason not to get the custom-made.

unless you have a JDM turbo vert, you're going to want a header not a downpipe. and I would go with racing beat, the quality is far better then any custom shop you'll find and they've put a lot of work into tuning them to the right lengths

if this is for your vert in your signature. then yes the rb downpipe for the na will replace the stock precats. also you could just get their street-able header and this will replace the header and the precats all in one.

I thought that for non-turbo (6-port) engines, it was the other way around, it was better to keep the stock manifold and just get the downpipe. RB's own page on the headers recommends using the downpipe instead of the header for standard (non-turbo) fuel-injected engines.
