Power Window Switch

Do these have a known problem?......mine worked fine until this past weekend........now, if I want the window to go up I have to pull that switch and do it with some force for the window to go up. I will try to get into the door this weekend and see what's up but by the feel of it, I think I may be junkyard hunting soon...any comments/suggestions on the above would be appreciated..

Thanks,
RexMan

I don't think that you need to pull apart your door to fix just the switch. You should be able to pop it out and disconnect the harness. Then just carefully disassemble the switch noting how everything goes back together. Clean the corroded copper contacts with fine sandpaper, a nail file, contact cleaner, or a pencil eraser (your choice). This should fix the problem if the switch was the problem to begin with. It's also possible that your power window motor/ plastic bead assembly is gummed up and binding. Fixing this does require pulling apart the door so look at the switch first. Good luck.

Thanks rxfan99 ......... so the switch assembly can be removed without taking the door panel? Great..........I don't think it's the motor....once you get the switch to work the window hauls *** all the way up.......Thanks a bunch.

It may seem hard to pop them out but I have to do this every 6 months or so.

There is a clip on the front and back of the switch panel. Use a small slot screwdriver to push in the clip and pull the panel up and out. If you try and dig it out from the side it won't come out and you may break something.

You might as well do the one on the passenger side as well.
