Power Window Problems
When I was given my father's 88 RX-7 three years ago I got it with broken power windows, and I've never really bothered with fixing them. The car needed some work before I got to fix them most notable a new transmission, brakes, and a new battery. Being a college student I did not have a lot of money to put into fixing my car. But now that I've had a year to gather funds I've decided I want to fix the power windows finally.
The problem with the windows is if you press the down button they go down maybe an inch or two on both sides then if you pull the up switch they don't come back up. Sometimes they budge a little but no more than a quarter inch at best. Then I have to have someone to grab the window and pull up as I use the switch. I was wondering if the motor was burnt out or if the windows slipped or if its just a bad connections and I need to resodder some things or if I have to get all new doors.

Same problem here. I'm guessing the motors about to die out though.. Have you brought it down and had help bringing it back up often? Maybe if you have then it might not be the motor about to die since you've been doing it through out the years.

have you tried cleaning the switch? I have had experiences like this, and there is a lot of carbon buildup on the switch contacts. Maybe the grounding is bad? I have some power window motors for both sides if you interested.
