Power Window Brushes

I ran into a problem today with the passenger power window failing to go back up. I know both the switches are good 'cause I tested 'em. so i took the motor apart and tried to feel the condition of the brushes, however I think i'm missing one. My simple and probably obvious question is: is it possible to replace just the brushes on the motor, or am I going to have to replace the track along with the brushes?

Motor brushes are replacable. The problem is to find the proper size. The brushes make contact with a commutator ring that connects the voltage to the armiture.
Before attempting to replace the brushes the motor should be checked for opens, shorts, or excessive current draw. There are plenty of used window motors for sale.

Has anyone replaced the brushes on the motor before? I'm wondering what's going to be required. I'd think it would be a soldering work, but beyond that I wonder if it's just click in tip brushes. Anyone have any idea?

Brushes

I doubt if Mazda or anyone else sells brushes for this motor. You may find an alternator or electric motor repair shop that can match a set of brushes to your remaining brush. However, assuming one brush is missing indicates that the spring that pushes the brush has made contact with the comutator ring and done some damage. If you find some brushes give it a try. It could be a cheap fix. They are probably soldered to a conncetion by a braded bare wire.
