Power Trunk Release w/ DEI 6500esp Alarm
I've installed several alarms b4, so I'm not a n00b at it . Just one question to see if anyone knows. I'm going to add power trunk release via the remote to my FC. Can I get away with using a lockactuator to release it, or will I need the more powerful trunk selonoid actuator to do it. I thought I remembered somewhere you can get away with a lock actuator. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

should be able too, probably requires ~ 15lb though? Pull off the back carpet in the hatch and try to pull the release lever from in back. Its not to easy without the leverarm in the front of the car...

got to have the trunk actuator. if you bought a DEI doorlock module, it might work but it might also hold the lock open. with the trunk actuator it just yanks and releases, the door lock modules try to pull and stay where they are.

Door lock actuators are more than fine to pop the trunk on both coupes and convertibles.
I'd personally stay away from truck pop actuators... way too much force for what you need.
and it is no where near 15lbs pull. The pull is the same as turning the key in the trunk. Maybe 2 or 3 lbs maximum.

I suppose you could just use a spring, but I have never needed it to close again. When voltage is taken away, the latch returns back to its resting state.
