power stering

just wondering how much horse power you loss from the powersterring pump. and if i want to take mine off can i just detach the pelt to it or is they for you have to do to it? thanks

Ditching the PS will save you maybe a couple of HP (And a few lbs) and will let your engine rev a bit quicker. You don't want to just ditch the belt though. The steering will get pretty heavy and unresponsive. The best way to do it is to minimize the plumbing that the fluid has to travel through by looping the hydraulic lines and keeping fluid in the rack or gutting the valve body in the rack entirely.
