Yes, I intend to rebuild the pump. I have purchased another used... but I would like to rebuild the old and put it on the shelf just-in-case.
If it is just a matter of removing the old bearings and replacing them, then great. What about seals? Are there any Mazda only seals I need?

PS Replaced
OK, well, I purchased a used pump from someone on the list. Thank you. It was an easy replacement, just messy. After replacing the pump I washed down the interior of the engine bay at a high pressure car wash. Next I will purchase a set of belts and hoses in case the PS Fluid/Car Wash has shortened the life of the ones I have.
There are two (like every thing else) pumps listed from Mazda for the 88 convertible. If I remember the sales literature from the 88, The convertible has effort sensitive power assist and the other cars are speed sensitive (I may be wrong about this - it was a long time ago); the pump I purchased was apparently not the type for the Vert. The difference however seems only to be in the wiring for the sensor at the bottom of the pump and they are interchangeable.
So, the result is that my RX-7C should not be weeing all over the floor of my garage anymore.
Thanks to those who contributed to this and my other PS related postings.
BTW ------ for those who are interested. Mazda wants $1100.00 + for the PS pump. NAPA sells it (rebuilt) for $155.00.
BTW2 ---- thanks to another member on this forum, I also have a new(er) leather steering wheel. Thanks to that member too.
BTW3 ---- all that is left is to find a new carpet, get the dings removed, replace the worn pedal rubber and the car will look like new. To my amazement, the 15 yo paint still looks good, so I imagine I still have 4 - 5 years left before needing repainting.
I still need to replace some bushings before it will drive like new. Pics follow...
