Power-steering, input from those who've removed it =)
My power steering is out since it sits right on top of the A/C compressor I needed to take out =). Anyways, I am considering keeping it out for good, but I'd like some input on the "feel" of the steering. Is it still responsive, or is it like my friend's datsun 240sx I drove a few times =)... Thanks for the responses...

I have my belt off right now. at highway speeds there is no difference. and while moving it's a little different. but when you're stoped it sucks. I like it the way it is in the corners but I think my belt will go back on soon.
Dont do it. Its easy to wreck your ****. Youre going through a series of tight turns you can normally pulloff, but the steering is too damn slow. Screw "feel for the road", I can predict how the car will handle with enough experience.
its farking hard work trying to park with some 17's with fat rubber on the front, however i dont like the old granny car feel the power steering gives, if geared down a lot the power steering would be ok and i would considering having it, but its not, so i removed it, pump and all, all gone, oh my engine bay looks soooooooo much tidier.

...What do you mean "old granny feeling", you mean the way you can whip the car back and forth with only slight jerks of the wheel? I've never knew those boats old grannies drive could do that :p , jk.... describe what you mean =)

I took off my power steering and LOVE it. You'll only "wreck your ****" if can't handle your car. It does NOT make your steering slow, or less responsive. I auto-cross without PS and like it WAY more than with. It really gives you a get a GREAT feel for the road, especially when driving hard, and during slides you'll feel like you have WAY more control of the car. Yeah, sometimes its slightly a pain to turn the wheel when my car is completely stopped, but its not that big of deal, you get used it, and build up your upper body strength.

My X 87 T2 came without PS from the factory, I lied it, except in city traffic, you simply can't make quick movements near as fast. (Like if someone dosn't see you & gets in your lane ect.ect.) On the open road I loved it. My current 88 T2 has it and although the sparkplugs will be much harder to remove, overall with my driving alot in the city (Indy) I like having it better for day to day driving.
