Power Steering harness

I am planing the circuits on my custom chassis/engine harness, and I was wondering if the power steering needs that conector conected to work. The scamitics seem to tie it into a power steering control unit. I have not seen anything like this on any other of my projects. Thanks.

I always thought it was included in the left body harness.

The power steering computer controls the amount of assist depending on engine speed or vehicle speed. S4's use vehicle speed, S5's use engine speed. If you disconnect the pump from the computer, I believe there will be no assist at all, as though the belt broke.

The power steering computer is under the steering column. It's a small metal box with one medium sized connector going to it. Also, the P.S. will work if you disconnect the "computer" when the system is in a high boost mode. My P.S. computer went bad on me, so I drove at low speed (it's an S4) and disconnected it and I've had full P.S. since. For anyone who cares, Icemark on this forum repairs them if you have a bad one (i'm getting it done when money comes handy).

Just take the whole thing out. That's what I did and I drift with no power steering. In my opinion it's way better, but that's just me.

If you want full time power steering, you can remove the servo motor & manually lock the control valve full on.
