Power steering? Hard to turn?
hey i had a quick question... i looked under my hood and i honestly did not see a power steering resevoir under there? i have a 1987 gxl and it seems to be harder to turn at times of low speed.. the tire pressure is fine. There is a power steering pump i believe. Unless i am that retarded lol... i mean i have worked on cars before and i know what they look like. Any ideas or am i just totally missing it? let me know thanks guys...

if there is a power steering pump then there is a reservoir itll have a little whiteish colored kinda I shaped cap. however the previous owner might have left the pump and reservior on but may have blocked off the lines going into the rack thus making a "manual" steering rack. the resevoir is attached to the pump on the fron drivers side of the engine its pretty hard to miss. hope that helps

I'm not sure if there's a dipstick on the power steering compressor, but you can take off the black **** on top of it an see how full it is. If it's low, get a buddy to turn the wheel left and right, lock to lock, while the engine is on and fill up the resevoir. Should be a bit easier to turn after that.
If that doesn't work, consult the haynes manual or the Factory service manual thats in the FAQ at the top of this forum.
