See that's the thing. I wanna put in a keyless entry system and power door lock system in now, and then later put in a Viper alarm system. But is it gonna be a better idea to just get the power locks for now and wire those in, then later get an integrated keyless and alarm system? I have a feeling installing a keyless entry system on top of an alarm system if gonna make quite a wiring mess, so maybe it would just be best to get them in one kit? Hmmm....

Yeah, if you are going to do an alarm down the road, it makes no sense not to just step up and do it now, instead of trying to do a keyless and then make an alarm work with it.

Alright Ice Mark, thanks for the advice. Do you have any suggestions for a power lock system and an alarm/keyless entry system?

EDIT: Forgot to add the links I found.

This seems like a good place to start. You can integrate any keyless entry system into a power door lock system, correct?

I've been looking around at alarm/keyless entry systems and haven't found anything that fits my situation yet. And once again Ice Mark, thanks. I don't know where I'd be without you.

If you don't care about brand name you can go to just about any place that sells car alarms and have one installed that will allow you to have the keyless entry.
They will have to add actuators to your doors so that will cost extra unless you hook those up and then take the car in to have the alarm installed.

I would say you could get this done for around 150 - 250 depending on the brand and where your located.

That seems the best way to do it, I'm pretty sure I could install the power door locks myself without any troubles. I'd like to have a good security system, and I've seen and heard many good things about Viper.

Yeah, those are just the motors/actuators. You still would need relays (a DEI 451 is probably fine).

Once those are in you would then add a security system or keyless entry

Yea, that system that he just posted up there seems freakin' great. Says it comes with everything you're gonna need. Seems like it comes with the relays, actuators, and a keyless entry and alarm system all in one. Does that seem like a good buy then or what? Here's the link again.

I was thinking earlier, what if you just got another electric motor that's in the passenger side door and put it in the driver side door, then when you go to install the security system, would you be able to hook up the electric motor to it?

For some wierd reason, my GXL never came with that passenger lock actuator or anything. I've got power windows and everything there but the stock security system and the power locks.
