powder coat? paint? opinions

im in the process of rebuilding my motor so everything is apart. i want this thing to look good and as clean as possible as i rebuild it. as far as the UIM, LIM, throttle body etc.. i just want a clean stock looking silver/flat aluminum(something to that nature). for the short block i want the housings to be a stock looking silver as well and the irons/side housings to be black. how would you go about getting this look if it were up to you? what processes do the parts have to go through for cleaning and such, whether it be for paint or powdercoat. opinions, advice, and pics are greatly appreciated.

I think his question was what does HE need to do in order to paint/powdercoat his own engine, correct?
if you do it yourself, its just like painting anything else, its all in the prep work, just take the time to degrease and sand everything and you will be ok. High temp. paint from napa or wherever else they sell it is good for at home. Powdercoating is more durable of course but unless you have a kiln in your house you have to have that professionally done, and they will clean it for you anyways.

if you have money and time there is no reason not to powdercoat everything. It's just more durable and holds up to heat/grease/scratches/fading better than normal paint.

if you don't or you want to do it yourself then you should use high temperature paint.

another reason i ask is because ive read that powdercoating the rotor housings can cause warpage and throw them out of spec

follow the powdercoating link by Anubis06 for prices

and I have never heard that powdercoating can get your housings out of spec...
if that were true then there wouldnt be so many people running around with powdercoated engines running like 500HP

I am very sure that that can't happen because the temps that bake powdercoat are not nearly high enough to warp a housing that can handle the temeratures generated by a rotary engine.

You can also use the engine paint that POR-15 sells. www.por15.com

im considering taking stylemon and $100t2s advice togethor: save money and go with the cheaper alternative of using the POR-15 engine enamel.
