possibly justifying a TII hood on a N/A
ok, first off i know im probaly going to get the the TII hood on N/A rice blah blah blah, but i just want to explain a theory i have. here goes;
first and most obvious advantage would be weight savings if you have a steel hood
now whe you put a TII hood on an N/A it seems the majority of air would be directed behind the engine and over and behind the bell housing exiting under the car around the tranny area. now im thinking theat at higher speeds all the air rushing through there would create somewhat of a vaccum, and not nessisarily pull air through the radiator but make it so the air going through it went through it went through with less turbulence. and it would also pull hot air out of the engine bay.
i know it would no be much of a performance increase but mabye improve cooling a little. any way i wanted to prove a point that TII hoods on a n/a could serve a purpose. even if it being small
i want to put a TII hood on my n/a and im not going to be swayed not too because its "rice", its not like im trying to make people think its got a turbo, i just think it looks good.

What about the increase in frontal area and drag because of the air flow in and over the hood scoop?
And the weight argument is pretty lame. If you really want to save weight you get an aluminum no-turbo hood, which is a couple lbs lighter than the aluminum turbo hood.

Listen, you don't have to justify yourself one bit. You like the turbo hood? You don't have a turbo? Who gives a > edited for content<

Hey does anyone know if there is a camelion paint that is black to blue. I've seen the purple to green paint jobs but I'd only heard of other combinations of colors. Having never seen them I'm sceptical.

its your car do it if you want.
however the weight savings idea is lame because some turbo2 hoods are steel, the one on my friend's 87 was steel, and the hood on my 89 gx is an aluminum n/a hood.
but its your car, do what you want, you have to drive it!

Still rice and still tacky.
There isn't proof one way or another of the area which air flow would be directed in the engine bay since no one will test it. I already spent time to calculate the amount of weight savings it gives you and its minute not small.
Turbo=turbo hood
non-turbo=no turbo hood
non-turbo+turbo hood=poser

The reason Mazda used aluminum is to save weight. Whats so lame about that? The steel hoods were due to the bean counters.
I'm using a TII hood on my N/A car. Does that make me a ricer? I don't think so. I have a Weber sidedraft carb sitting under it.

hate to state something absoultly obvious, but NAs had alum hoods too. I have one. The only reason to have a TII hood is to look like a TII. That hood scoop doesn't do anything for anyone without a top-mount intercooler.
Yeap it boils down to personal oppinion but the facts are at a draw because we don't really know how much it will do for you on a track if anything. But i'll still call you on it if you have no snail. I really don't even like the TII hood it messes with my view I like N/a style hoods the view is much cleaner.
1987RX7guy,
we all like to do different things to our cars,, i have a turbo II hood on my n/a...but ya know what?? i like it so >edited<! i guess i should pull all my s-5 T-II interior out too ....oh..i have a TII oil filler tube!!! oh god im such a poser ricer!!!
and for your info ...it does keep the top of your motor cooler and creates less turbulance for your radiator if you dont use a shroud and an e-fan....
i think instead of you critisizing what people have on thier cars you need to stick with making your cold air intakes..wich by the way cost me 70 bucks to make and its exactly the same as what you build for 150+ bucks
