Possible serious engine issue

Well here's the story, was on the highway driving clutch slave cylinder went out. couldn't get it out of gear, grinding etc..

Eventually got it into neutral and put it on the side of the road and towed it home.

fast forward 2 days, i went outside to try and start the thing.. the starter motor spins and a now extremely high rate of speed compared to before, motor doesn't sound like its turning over at all.

Did i blow up my fly wheel / starter gears ?

edit: i took the plugs out, its getting spark they aren't fouled either deflooded the car too.

if the car is turning over you will know it. Have someone stand in front of the car and see if the belts are moving. If the motor is turning over then it is badly flooded probably.

Being stuck in gear will not mess either the flywheel or the starter up as the car is running even if you were grinding and shifting from a gear to the next.

The starter is not engaged or touching the flywheel at this point, even the shifting would have nothing to do with the flywheel.

If it sounds like it is whirring way faster than it usually does it means it is flooded, but worse than normal. At least that is what happened to me....

Well its turning over, everything is moving and its getting spark

i took the plugs out turned the thing over till it was dry (egi fuse unplugged)

Put new plugs in it, tried to start it up (egi fuse plugged in) still nothing it just sounds like its spinning extremely fast still

When i took the brand new plugs out again they were extremely wet and dirty from about 10 seconds of turning over i cant figure out what else it could be.

maybe i lol'd an apex seal or something, i put some atf fluid inside it with my old plugs and turned it over a few times, i'm going to let it sit for a little while and see what happens

I'm going to suggest it's flooded, but it seems every time knowledgeable members of these boards suggest flooding, they are met with disbelief and trash talk.

But it's most likely flooded. If it is, here is a pretty fail-proof way to un-flood it.

Pull the spark plugs and clean them. Replace the upper ones and leave the lower ones out. Crank the car a few times, ten seconds at a time. Using a baby dropper, or something similar, put a few squirts of MMO, motor oil, or ATF in each the lower holes. Replace the plugs, but not the EGI fuse. Repeat the cranking cycle a few times. Replace the EGI fuse and try to start it.

Please don't suggest to me that just because you have a cut off switch, that your car is un-floodable (Don't ask).

You would know if you broke and apex seal. Either it would be lodged in the rotor housing, or more likely spit out the exhaust. The latter would cause the pulses while cranking to be off, like instead of the "whirr whirr whirr", you would get "whirr whirr ____ whirr whirr ____. That's crude but it's the best way I know how to describe it.

The reason most people do not believe that it's flooded is that they attempt do de-flood the engine and fail, then decide that the people who told them that are full of ****. When in reality, the unburnt fuel in the housings have washed away any oil, and left the engine with no compression. Spark+Fuel+Compression = Combustion.

Sorry if I went off on a rant here, but all of the information is at least relevant to the topic at hand.

Pull the egi fuse out,and take the plugs out too, and roll over 10 seconds.
put a spoon,or two of oil in and roll over about 2 turns or so.This will soak up the excess fuel and also make a "compression seal".
then place your Plugs back in.put the Egi fuse back in.
It should start up.
