Would i need a new rear end or could i use my own and swap it in?


don't suggest getting or swapping in a 5spd

 

Im no pro but an lsd usually helps with launches. Unless your doing neutral to drive drops and ******* your tranny you really dont need one, Your not launching that hard. But to answer your original question YES it is possible but it would be all around easier to swap the entire rear end.

 

lsd also helps every time you turn the steering wheel. so it makes sense to want one even in an auto.

 

Yeh, it's possable, as long as you grab an N/A LSD carrier, or swap the whole N/A diff out. Otherwise you need a custom driveshaft to let you go with a turbo LSD.

 

My gxl comes with a lsd from the factory!

 

give ME the LSD.... i have the extra pedal that could put that to use!

 

86-88 GXL automatics came with a LSD from the factory.

The shaft is different on the tranny side, not the diff side, from what I can see.
You can swap out any N/A diff, you dont just need to get an auto GXL diff. I cant see a difference.
