Possible adjustment to A/F?

Well, on my girlfriends Cabriolet, there is a plug that I can connect my multimeter into. I set my digital multimeter to %Freq, and then start her car. It is supposed to read about 50% +/- 8%.

Does the RX-7 have anything like this?

On her car, I believe they were saying that below 50% is rich, and above is lean.

Not exactly, but close.

If you have a S4. The ECU will tell you whether your rich or lean by flashing 2 LEDs quickly.

You install the LEDs in the diagnostic plug.

Read in the FSM and search for ... I think the Oxygen Sensor or A/F adjustment. It will let you know.

If some one posted the voltage ranges you could just stick the dmm on the O2 input wire and see what it's seeing.

you need to buy an SAFC. It will read airflow meter voltage and allow you to make some basic corrections to the AFR's in open loop (WOT etc, not cruising... my SAFC never did jack for cruising on my N/A according to the wideband). If you want to read the real AFR you need a wideband o2.

I do have an SAFC-II. I was just wondering if we had anything similar to the VW's thing. They suggest using a dwell meter, but a dmm works just as well.

Thanks to those that reply.

Ya you can hook up a volt meter to the o2 sensor and to a closed loop tune if you wanted to. I would not do a wot tune without a wideband that datalogs.

you can try adjusting it with the variable resistor found on the passenger strut tower

Ya I see my adjuster but mine is completly covered with wax or something. About as thick as cold gum. I see something under it but I cant get to it unless I chip out all the wax. Im running QUITE rich, and I would like to adjust mine also.

^not exactly.
It''s suppose to be adjusted when you put a new engine in. I personally haven't just because I haven't read up on what it exactly dioes.

Other than that. They do recommend to never **** with it.

It adjusts the AFR for closed loop.. actually I forget if its for only idle or closed loop all together.

In the FSM it tells you how to adjust it.

It's only for idle and you don't have closed loop in idle. It's an idle mixture screw/pot. It has Stops on each end of the pot. Do not exceed the stops.

Warm the engine fully to hot. Note where the screw is and make a note of it. Then turn full lean or full rich. The motor will change speed/tone, IF the engine is idling. An engine speed over 1000rpm is not and never has been an idle.

Turning the screw can change the afr a full point. Like from 13afr to 12 afr, but only at idle.
