Porting S5 turbo manifold..benefits/drawbacks

What would be the benefits and/or drawbacks of opening up the ports up on a stock S5 turbo manifold and turbo?

Thanks
Mike

I don't know if you'd really gain anything. I smoothed out my manifold back in the day, but I don't think it did anything special.

Porting the wastegate does make a big difference, though.

Hey dale, do you have any idea around how low I could keep boost if I ported my S4 wastegate as much as possible? (sorry to hijack your thread turboGXL )

its lowest boost level is decided by the spring in the wastegate actuator.

Well, I did open the ports some on my manifold.
I noticed more lag than before, but it seemed to have more high end too...

I was just trying to figure if this was imagined or not...

it's funny because extrude honing, will give you about as much as a cat-back. and yet people are so reluctant to go for it. It really depends on your mods, and obciously the higher ther HP the less effect it will have.
