Porting intake

I was bored earlier so i started taking apart a spare upper intake manifold just to check out the insides and i was wondering if there was anything i could port in there? ive been told you can do that on other cars but the ports seem to be pretty large stock on the rx7.

Are you actually trying to port out the motor? Or just the manifolds? Your intake is only as great as its largest opening (Usually the ports in the motor).

you can port match them at the seams but to do any modifications inside where it counts isn't going to be within the scope of a DIY person.

A would actually be a little overkill. A dremel tool or any other rotary tool works just fine.

They sell dremel at home cheapo or lowes. get the 300, it's good enough for you to play around

the best would actually be to cut off the manifold at the header flange, weld some pipes to it and then a throttle body flange just upstream. that way you can modify the piping diameter to whatever size suits the powerband of the engine.

the intake manifold is very long and you won't realistically be able to get into most areas of it to port the innards.

im trying to imagine this in my head but your saying that how wide the intake opens would be how wide the exhaust opens in a sense?
