Ported my intake, some questions.

I'm wondering, on the middle intake manifold, the brown peices that fit on top of the injectors and extend into the manifold; is it really OK to break the tops off? Arent they there for a reason?

In the porting thread in the archives it says just snap them off, but I'm lothe to break something if I dont know exactly how it works and if there will be negitive side effects, especially since mazdatrix charges 21$ each for em

Anyway, for the porting I've done on the middle intake manifold so far:

are you talking about the air bleeds? I wouldn't remove 'em, but that's me...

Yes, the air bleeds, it was reccomended to snap off the part that fit in front of the injector, not around it. Thats what I was wondering about :O

I wouldn't say it was recommended, it was just what the writer decided to do. Those plates are there to further improve fuel atomisation. I'd keep 'em.

I broke 'em off. They were really brittle anyways. I figured better for them to come out now than through the exhaust. We have enough problems with apex seals as it is.

I would not remove them. I kept mine after doing an intake port job. I'm pretty happy with the results.
