Smile popping sound

When i'm redlining the car and shift there's a popping sound coming from the exhaust. Is this normal? It doesn't happen when i drive conservatively.

Thanx

yeah..it's just backfiring. You're probably running a bit rich.. Do you still have your cats/air pump?

yeah i still have all that stuff(air pump & cats). My exhaust is stock too because the one I ordered didn't come in yet, still waiting. So the popping sound is nothing to worry about?

Mine does that too, so if it is a rich fuel mixture problem how do you correct it?
(I personally enjoy the sound as everyone seems to think I blew a tire or something.)

My old stock exaust did that too. After i put the RB exaust on it, it no longer did it. Perhaps it was a exaust leak? CJ

I too just saw a stock turbo2 pop with blue flames out the exhaust and reacted with a HOLY ****! Rx7s are known for the longest fire travel in thier exhaust. When you have a stock car it will pop or fire more because it has a rich setup. When you put mods on the car it will become less rich. Turbo cars may still do it with mods if you switch out the stock injectors for a higher flow rate set of injectors. -Gabe
