Popping noise

So my fc hit 100miles not to long ago. And things have started to go on it. Grinds

when going into 5th, pretty sure i have a leaky injector (on start-up blows a nice

cloud of white smoke smells like fuel), and starter went out on it this week. Got it

starting and running again. After sitting from last night till now its devolved a weird

popping noise will driving. It only happens when the engine is under load, i tried

reving the motor with the clutch disengaged, and nothing no noise at all. I tried

coasting in gear to see if it was my trans that has just been acting up and

nothing. Cruised for a little bit at a little over 60MPH, 3000 RPM in 5th and

nothing. So it seems it only happens during acceleration. Any ideas? Recently

changed the starter, Was push starting it for 3 days, and did an oil change last

week if that information helps. Ill have to check if something is hitting somewhere

but it was fine last night and i haven't touched it since.

im assuming the popping noise coincides with a hesitation...an engine under heavy load requires much more air, fuel, and spark than a free revving engine. if your convinced that its not a fuel issue, you could try replacing the spark plugs and wires.

but the fuel burning when starting is something that a car does when it has an injector thats mechanically stuck open. that also can cause hesitation and backfiring. thats where i would start from your description.
