poping sound from exhaust

poping sound from exhaust

hey everyone i n ew to this club i got this rx7 with turbo 2 in it itz a 1988 it runz real good i love it till last nite i was driving home when i release the gas it made a sound like something coming out from the exhaust i think itz back firing but till today morning when i back it out from the garage it made the same sound but too many timez and the whole car was shaking what should i do is it normal????? plz help me out guyz thankz

Uhhh first you might be reving to high so you could be back firing like that or you could have your spark plug wires in a different order it i'm corred the ignition coil closest to the fire wall is for the top and the left is for the left rotor and the right is for the right now the farthest one away is for the bottom and it is the same way left for left and right for right. unless it is something that i don't know but yeah.

you might be experincing what they call after burn. could be a serious case of it to. i dunknow you could be running really rich causing the un spent fuel to ignite in the exhaust.

do you think you could post a vid of what youre experincing?

does it pop and shake eraticly during idle?

i dont think he knows what he just said. im not to sure the engine would run at all if he had the coil packs completely reversesd.

either your plugs are fouled or your ACV could be malfunctioning....if you search for popping noise exhaust then you can find many post about it

whats wrong with a popping exhaust? its probably something minor causing it like FC TII said. Change your plugs and check for vacuum leaks and check to make sure the ACV and other emissions equipt. is working. I wouldnt worry about it too much though
