Rotary Internal Combustion Engine (RICE)
So yes it is rice as you like to call it, apparently that was the origin of the word, thats why I don't like calling hondas, etc. rice, **** box is a better word

so what happens in a front end collision when the hood that isnt properly attatched flies through the windshield and decapitates you?

I would have to say that some testing would have to be
done but from what i have seen this mod not only looks
bad but serves no purpose.
if i remember right, the zone of highest air pressure
is at the base of the windshield so at highway speeds
hot air will not be rushing up and over the windshield
rather air might be forced back down under the hood
causing more under hood pressure and reducing flow
through the rad.
my 2 cents

that would make sense, seeing as how air would be rushing up the hood at 60mph, and then basically hitting a wall (ie: windshield)

It looks like you closed the hood with a some tools underneath it or the old bent hood syndrome that happens to old chevy's with those giant spring hinges, then for all the trouble and ruining the look of the car you get what? 1/50th of 1 horsepower? That is what I consider rice. To me it is about as efficient as sanding the paint off your car to make it lighter therefore faster. Yeah, it technically helps kinda but why would you do it?

meh, im kinda indifferent to the style i like it, but i dont. wonder how it would look with those sleepy eyes? i like the functionality, and im ALL about the free mods. i if this is a good thing to do before you hit the drag strip, how would it do at an autox or road race??

GAY! Makes you look like a broke *** ************ that can't fix their own ****.

Don't be drilling holes in those Aluminum N/A hoods! Do it on a steel hood and sell the Aluminum N/A to someone who needs it you damn F&F lovin' riceheads!

Damn rice brigade is in here.
Damn group is out to lynch.

I live in arizona and it's already hitting triple digit heat here.

I am looking for any cooling mod I can do.

and what's with the "GAY! Makes you look like a broke *** ************ that can't fix their own ****"?
Come on! That's the lamest thing to say. So you have to drop money on big spoilers and graphics instead of doing a reliability mod?

I don't believe that is rice at all.
Now if they did that to a Mid/rear engine car ,that would be rice. Cooler temps for your spare tire!

It may not be the greatest looking but if it does allieviate temps then why knock it? I don't know if it works though. Someone would have to do a test or a company(with proof) back it before I did it.

Also for the hood coming up and decapitating you in an accident. That does need to be tested. It's still bolted to the same point but be carefull that you do not use crappy metal which could shear off.

That's a long blab. i'm tired. let the flames commence if there's something wrong in there.

Then buy a turbo II hood. Don't hack up the stock hood.

Or buy one of the vented hoods MikeL is making;

Not functional. Right where the hood opens up is a HIGH pressure area, there ain't NOTHING coming out of that, probably going to actually get air being forced INTO the engine bay.

I voted functional, but I personally think that it just looks wierd. I don't know, it would seem to be more dangerous, like a suicide hood. You get in a front end collision is that hood gonna stay or go into the cab? Just doesn't seem worth it to me either way.

it looks like your hood dont fit, and i would never consider doin it to my car, wana release heat make ports in the side behind the front wheels to vent the engine like on the fd's

From what i have heard, metal bends and retains the shape when the bending is through. So as long as you dont have carbonfiber hood, i think it will be ok.

Well actualy the hood scoop is in a low pressure area so it would cause suction to pull heated air from the engine bay, very little but still something. And as for the wing, i am a firm believer that it is very useless. All it does is increase the drag coefficient. Less down force than drag. hood = ok wing = bad
Just my professional opinon
