Just an intake might put you over fuel cut. I tried to do the homemade FCD in the earlier post but couldn't get it to work correctly. I'm going to make another one. I might have got the op-amp too hot during soldering.

Heat-sink it. Make sure it's in contact with something heavy enough to absorb the heat. Using a very low wattage iron (I used a 15W) helps that issue but creates others(as in if your blobs get too big it doesn't want to melt them).

Porting the WG is just reaming it out to flow more.

I might just get the $30 one from the guy on the forums who makes his own and sells them here.

I would start with a basic intake and DP (midpipe if you can) and the car should still be reliable without needing any additional fuel mods, although a fuel pump cant hurt.

I ran into this same dilema and my advice would be to make sure you always have money to fix the necessities like keeping the car running first. That could easily take all of your $80/week.

Good luck, FCs are not cheap. I noticed your bday is on Sept. 11th - thats unlucky

Don't bother with the heatsink..... when I make FCD's, I use a 8-pin DIP socket on the PCB board, solder the board, and then plug the OP-AMP in... they cost less than a buck and will save you a LOT of time if you have to replace the OP-AMP later

If anybody out there is trying to make thier own FCD.. I HIGHLY SUGGEST at least getting a PCB from me, no jumper wires, no mussing about, everything plugs in and you just solder away without worrying about how the circuit goes!!! And they fit in an itty bitty box!!

Lemme know how the FCD works for ya Ocelot!

The socket's not a bad idea. It's just an unnecessary extra connection. Place for corrosion to have a go.
