Polyurethane Body Kits?

I was just wondering if there was any Polyurethane Body Kits available for FC's. I searched the forums and it doesnt seem that there has acutally been much discussion on this topic. I am not really in the market for one right now, I just was wondering if anybody knew.

Thanks

Yeah, I had a friend who had one for his Integra. He ended up having it get ripped off his car on some train tracks though. But he was the one who brought it up. See, recently someone rear ended me and caused some minor body damage and broke my drivers side taillight. He suggested I just put a body kit on it and said polyurethane was the best because it didnt break, or crack. But I have heard of fitament issues before, but then again that seems common with a lot of body kits.

It shouldn't twist if it was mounted properly.

Also, it wouldn't chip the paint when it did twist, had it been painted properly (with flex additive).

You realize our factory bumper covers are polyurethane right? As are the factory bumper covers on pertty much every stock vehicle in existence...

yes i know ours are polyurethane. would you like pictures of the car, I can also offer you the knowledge that there was a flex additive used. It was also mounted as per Xenon's directions.

That's great and all... I guess that means a couple things:
1. Xenon's mounting is insufficient to stop it from twisting (big surprise).
2. They didn't mix proper paint or enough flex additive, or they lied.

If you have stock paint on your FC, you can pull that bumper off and twist it 180 degrees and the paint won't crack. Don't believe me? Oh well, don't care.

I was aware that the stock body kits were polyurethane. I was just wondering if any aftermarket ones were as well.

well i painted the car, so i could have used the worng mixture, im well aware of the stock paints flexability. anyway, its hard to describe where its "twisting" its not from the mounting location, i would have to show you in pictures, but i have none at this moment.

Not knocking on your painting abilities, so hope you didn't take it that way. It's just with flex additives, you have to use exact amounts, and the amount differs depending on the paint you mix it with, temperature, etc. You also have to use the right primer underneath as well, to bond it properly with the bumper material.

Anyway, my point in all of this is that a poly bumper is a LOT more durable (no cracking/splintering) and if done right the paint shouldn't crack/chip/flake/spiderweb.

It can't be "polyurethane"; there is no such thing.
There is such things as "urethane" body kits parts.

The above link to Classicgarage has the German made Vestatec body kit which they say is made out of reaction injected molded polyurethane.

It can't be "polyurethane"; there is no such thing.

????????

Sounds like you should attend the "Polyurethane Technical Conferance 2004" He he, that was just the 1st thing that popped up when I Goodled Polyurethane- so I thought it was kinda funny. What is the deal w/ the Polyurethane Vs Urethane Ted?

I think even the majority of the "expensive ones" are fg. For example GP sports and RE full cowl pro are fiberglass from what I was told. They may have a better more flexible FG (if there is one).

Yeah, weird.
Very few things stick to PU, and it's next to impossible to get paint to adhere to it.

I think that web page got mixed up between PU and regular urethane.
