Lol, let me tell you how. MANY, MANY hours of hard work or.....pay to get it done. On mine, I started out with a dremel and a sanding bit to get all the rough part off. Do the whole manifold. THEN, start with 80 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper to get the marks from the dremel out. Then go to 200 grit to get those marks out. Then 400, then 800, then 1500, and then finally, when its completely smooth, you can polish it. Let me warn you, if its not completely smooth before you polish it, EVERY little scratch and pit mark will show, so take the time to sand it right. It took me like 2 days just for the UIM.

BKM are talking about inside the intake runners or being a ricer/poser and just the outside???

And BKM, you need to fix your signature. 6 lines is all that is allowed here. Your signature is currently double that.

Perhaps some of us like our engin bays to look good as well :-/ Mine is polished inside and outside what does that make me? A uber cool ricer??

No, doing it right means neither.

Perhaps if you read my post you would have seen that I suggest that only doing the outside is poser (which falls under the ricer definition- looks good (well the owner thinks it looks good), but serves no useful performance advantage).

*edt< and after seeing your new pictures... I must say that is pretty ballsy to be polishing that ignitor... Pretty good way to ruin it, as well as reduce cooling to a needed electronic part.

Well the best (and probably most expensive) is to extrude hone them, but being unable to send them off, you could probably do a minor cleaning with a dremel/ die grinder and a set of flexible long wheels of various grades.

Smoother air flow, increased air flow, increased HP

View IceMarks reply ^ for the best way. I used a dremel and matched the ports between the LIM and UIM so they had no more over lap this reduces turbulance and restriction as well turbulance creates heat The smoother the surface IE polishing internals the smoother and faster air can flow. Thus creates more and or more posabilitys for added HP. I as well have a ported and polished TB.

Who is the asshat ricer leaving me -rep points telling me I should not have polished my ignitors? For your ignorant *** I didnt! Try reading back through your frigin manual and see what a ignitor is. There is jack wrong with polishing the coil brakets and clenaing the mounting plate wile painting the coils plastic cover. Try knowing your **** next time kid.

so because u make something look good w/out increasing performaance its being a ricer? so i guess putting a body kit is bein a ricer? and painting ur car is being a ricer as well? that doesnt make too much sense mark. i mean i respect u ,u post alot of helpful info. but that was just not one of them

Not the place for this post here.

And who cares what people leave for rep points... I if cared, I'd be crying everytime some newbie got his panties in bunch for not reading the FAQ for FC.

Also not the place, but yes if you put a body kit on, or a big alum wing, and it only hurts the aerodynamics then it is rice. Paint the car because it needs it would not be rice, (well unless you painted it like some lame race car, but only drove the car on the street).

But again, not the place. Start a thread in the lounge on rice if you want to argue about it or try and justify your own modifications.

If someone is going to be an asshat and n00b ricer wile doing it the lest they can do is post it publicly or on PM instead of hiding behind an anonymous rep message. That’s all.

Exactly, thats why bad rep points seems to be the weapon of choice for those homo-thug v8 guys. I swear everytime i say "hi" in any thread debating v-8s my rep points go down the crapper.
