PLUMES of STEAM from my TII hood..........f@#k it all to hell

well I replaced the plugs and the brake master cylinder only to have the radiator die on me 2 miles from home..........car started to overheat but I never let it get out of the RED range (never got to the top mark)..........poured more coolant and drove home (turning it OFF at everylight)...........I THINK I KNOW what went wrong but I have yet to inspect the car.....

when I removed everything from UNDER the dash it included the heater lines (they go from radiator INTO the cabin) and I capped the line that went from the radiator to the Heater core and tightened it with a hose clamp.......I assume that either the pressure got to the rubber cover i put on there or the hose clamp ripped some of the rubber cover that I used to cap the opening......I'm taking this opportunity to work on my car the way I wanted to ( it wasn't supposed to be a DD but i had to use it) it is parked right now and I will begin work on it........here is what I will be doing in the next few weeks:

fix radiator

Install SAFC and AVCR

Use the above controllers to tune TPS(there is a TPS connection there and I'll use THAT instead of a voltmeter.....kill 2 birds with one stone right?)

redo my timing

uninstall my front end and ship it to 13B4ME (thanks for your patience bro)

recieve/paint the corksport front end from 13B4ME

install/paint my Erebuni rear skirt

begin work on FMIC (removing all the crap and getting ready to weld and do the piping)

pull out dents

clean up the interior

take my rear taillights apart and fix the gaskets

fix my turn signal harness (blew it during my TII swap and I have no turn signals.....LOL only the emergency blinkers that ONLY allow for the RIGHT lights to turn on... )

somewhere along the way I will buy a wideband o2 sensor with loggin ability

powder coat my rims Bronze

and hopefully by next summer have either a stage 3 or 4 BNR turbo.....although MEDDLE's post about that one turbo making 460+ rwhp has me interested in that turbo......

it all happens for a reason I guess........I'm not trippin cuz my fuiancee's GTUs is now our DD........better MPG (still inconclusive) and looks nicer.....oh and THET TURN SIGNALS WORK!!!!!

oy.........

Ahh well sounds like a good excuse for some upgrades to me....

I am not sure how much effort you put into tracking down the turn signal problems but if you need any help with the wiring stuff let me know. I have re-wired many a hacked up wiring harnesses. Or just tracking down the bad relays etc.

If your going new and have the extra cash I highly recommend the koyo radiator setup. Its really nice... I did the swap... before if I beat on the car all day and turned on the AC just to load it up I would creap up to 190-195f at times.. now I hardly see 185f. Its just always at 180 almost making me think the defi gauge is broken. Anyways I just hated the plastic radiator end tanks....

Its all part of that love hate relationship with the cars... Good luck with the project! Im semi local and would be more then willing to help out with some things sometime on the weekend.

i already tracked down the turn signal issue.....The harness and switch are burnt up......a short may have blown it to HECK.... I will need the Male HARNESS that plugs into the turn signal switch Thanks for the offer....I might take you up on that.

as far as the radiator: I have an aftermarket ALL METAL S4 radiator......I haven't looked to see what went wrong with my cooling system yet but I'm pretty sure it IS the cap I used to cover the Heater line.

again, thanks for the offer......I'll keep you in mind.

Have fun with the FMIC I love seeing how others design and rout there pipe.

Wanna give me your AVC-R ? ;-) Alright alright I will quit rambling, sounds like its going to be awesome bro!

Remember that the S4 and S5 turn signal/light switch harnesses are wired different.

I did not know that....thank you...luckyly I still have a cluster surround leftover from my TII crash....all I need is an S5 turn signal harness..........First I need to make sure my cooling system is ok.....I'll work on it little by little during the week.....I know I have a leaky hose close to the tranny too saw the residue when the car was on the lift.....I'll keep you all posted on it...I'll take pics.
