Please recommend a good rattle can for Sunrise Red touch-up.

I fixed alot of the bad areas on my GXL last year and am getting ready to go back and fix a few of the more hasty repairs in a couple of weeks.

Last time I just grabbed a few of the Duplicolor rattle cans from Pep Boys (the smaller ones) and some good self-etching auto primer and went to town.

It turned out pretty good in most places because I did alot of wet sanding between coats and made sure everything was nice and clean, but it doesn't match in color as well. It's especially noticable in dim light (dusk or dawn) and on my rear quarter. It's more "pink-ish" and it cost like $5 per little spray can of the crap too.

I have read that you can go to a Mazda dealership and pic a thing of pain up for relativly cheap, but I didn't see if it was in a rattle can or how much you get.

Other then that, have any of you guys found a different brand or have any suggestions?

I went to a local parts store here that deals a lot in auto paint, and they mixed a small bottle of touch up paint for me in Tornado Silver. Are you just touching up scratches or painting a large section of the car?

When I painted a couple molding pieces when i was doing an s5 molding swap I just grabbed a generic red from Schucks (checkers/parts america/etc.). Turned out to be a perfect match for the s4 red, or whatever red I have. You can't eve tell it's rattle can

I went to a local auto paint place (Sherwin Williams) and had them mix me up a spray can of sunrise red. It was completely wrong. I could have picked virtually any red for another vehicle (duplicolor, etc) at an autoparts store and been closer. Morale of the story is to ensure that you check out the color before leaving the store.

I have to do most of the rear quarter, my new ghetto lip, rocker panels, and the new fiberglass chunks when I cut out the grill in my front bumper. ;D

The previous owner did the mirrors and tails and that color matches well, but he doesn't post here anymore and I don't know how to contact him anymore.

Not sure if they have spray cans but Plasti-kote still sells touch up in sunrise red, code is 3405, I just reordered.

Can't order off the website plasti-kote.com but you can order by phone at 800-251-4511

I have seen Duplicolor and another brand at Autozone and Pepboys for like $4/can that are supposed to match stock colors. I bought some for my honda and it worked pretty well. Only thing is, the stock paint had faded so much that it didn't look great, but it got the job done.

Here is some I found online.

Suggestions? Doing your own prep and taking it to the cheapest chain store paint shop available will have far better results than what you’re suggesting. If that’s out of your budget, hit your local junior college and see if they have an automotive paint class. Sign up. That way you can learn about paint and get your car done for the price of materials. Using a spray can won’t give you any depth, and when it's ready for a real paint job someone will have to sand all that Krylon all back off again.

LOL - you must not hang around too many paint shops eh?
when BASF sends me my weekly stock order (usually 4 boxes of material or so)
along with the $4,800 bill you quickly realize how expensive paint really is

GET USED TO IT

If ya don't wanna pay - buy a can and spray

No disrespect but its a pet peave of mine being a body man and all
