Unhappy please please please, some help!

Alright heres the deal. I have an 1987 fc 115,00 miles. The other night, I started it up and heard a loud poping noise. It was like a backfire, but under the hood, not the rear. The car then began to vibrate pretty bad, and I turned it off. I waited till the next morning, it started up, ran very roughly, lots of vibration and noise, for about 2 minutes and it stalled. it hasnt ran since. What am i dealing with here? bad ignition? Blown apex seal? Any information would greatly be appreciated. Hell, the guy who can tells me whats wrong, ill send 20 bucks if it helps, seriously!

Sounds exactly like what happened to my '89 GXL when it blew a rear apex seal. Good luck.

yeah, check the compression on both rotors. if you've blown an apex seal on one rotor you will get one face of normal compression and two low compression faces.

to test compression pull the EGI fuse from the fuse box in the engine bay. pull one of the spark plugs from each rotor and use a standard compression gage to test compression. you look at the gage and have an assistant turn the key to crank over the engine.

hope that helps,
TR
