Hello i am new to rotary engines and my 90 model gtu is puffing white smoke really bad when i first start it up (if it doesent flood itself) then it is puffing black smoke and overfueling after the white smoke clears up, i can shut the car off and it will start up and not chug the white smoke but still overfuel and if i leave it sit overnight it will puff white smoke again ....p.s. no check engine light either and plenty of power still .... help please?????

 

white smoke means A oil ,or B coolant. Black smoke is unburnt fuel. check for water drops under oil filler cap...if wet you got a blown coolant seal

Hello welcome to the forums. Please read the faqs/sticky threads at the top.

To answer your questions, the initial white smoke on startups after being left off for an extended amount of time is most likely coolant steam. Your coolant seals are most likely comprimised. You would have to open up the block to replace these. The black smoke is most likely excessive oil being burned in the engine. For these old machines, the likely cuase is the oil seals being worn down. These will need to be replaced also. Overfueling can be cuase by faulty, leaking injectors.

 

the white smoke will clear up and there is no water in the oil, but if i leave the car sit overnight it will come back... and i have never had to fill the coolant back up , i have had this car for 2 years and not figured out what is wrong with it, any other suggestions , injector seals? or computer prob? i have no idea but thanks in advance for ANY/ALL input oh yeah and the car has 82,000 miles, and is in GREAT condition
