please help (turbo options)

can i put the Greedy turbo kit on my stock 1989 GTU it come with

The GReddy turbo kit is finally here. It is a completely bolt on kit with high quality cast manifold and downpipe, turbocharger unit, front-mounted intercooler, piggyback engine management system along with all the necessary hardware including piping and oil lines. Internal Greddy testing has shown up to 250hp at the wheel at a nominal 5psi of boost.

on rx7.com it says that it design specifically for the rx8

No....well yes, but you're better off not.

The kit is designed as an ungrade for the T2 engine (engine is already turbo charged) and your car is not. The difference your stock ECU is not setup for turbo, the injectors are not setup for turbo (you have 460cc and you need 550cc minimum) and you're also running high comp rotors.

What does all this mean? I means you're likely to denonate your engine, blow an apex seal and have to do a rebuild. Another $1000 to 2000 (maybe more depending on options/damage).

Well first off, the greddy kit has a log style manifold for a renesis engine, not the 13b in your car. It has 3 exhaust ports that mate up with the rear, intermediate and front housings, and not the two rotor housing exhaust ports like on our car.

Not to mention the downpipe will not fit as the engine in the 13B renesis rides lower than all the other FB/FC/FD's out there. The emanage is also tuned specifically for the 8.

the list goes on.

The cheapest and easiest route is selling your n/a and buying a TII honestly.

Please check the FAQ for these answers and similar ones.

Short answer is there is no "kit" made for turboing n/a 2nd gens, you basically have to fab up your own, and the FAQ has helpful links for people that have done this.

Also search, searching is very helpful as this topic comes up CONSTANTLY.
