I looked in FAQ and did a search but came up short.

Does a 1990 convertible boot fit an 1988 vert??

OOPs...sorry I meant the convertible top cover boot. I'm bidding on one right now on EBAY and the auction closes in 1 hour....

ohh, I not familar with that aspect of the verts so I looked up the part #'s... the 88 has part # FB67-R1-960C--the 89-91 has part # FB67-R1-960G... Note the only difference in the two numbers are are the last letters...I think this might be something that deals with the color issue...I would say if the part is not entirly to expensive then get it and if it doesn't work just resell it!
