PLEASE HELP! Need information on removing and installing starter on my 1986......
I really need instructions on how to remove and install a starter on my 1986 mazda RX7. It's a non-turbo standard transmission. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! I also need to know what tools I will be needing for the job .

Well, first and foremost remove the battery cables from the battery. Put the car up on jackstands, the starter will have a couple of wires/cables hooked to it, one of which goes directly to the battery. Take a photo or draw and lable where these go. Then, I believe theres just two (maybe three?) bolts holding it on.
Been a while since I had mine off, do a seach for 'starter removal' here on the forum, that should help in case I've missed something. You'll need a couple of metric sockets/wrenches, I forget what size.

disconnect the battery... 2 screws that hold the start.. there 14 mm.. one of them has a bolt on the other side of it... that screw always holds in the ground terminal and then on top of the starter a 10 mm screw holds in the positive terminal...... pretty easy... if u have the right tools and arent freezing ur *** off like i did 2 weeks ago when i changed mines here in NJ it was like 12 degrees

Click on this link and download the Engine Electrical System chapter of the Factory Service Manual (FSM) in PDF format for free. Look on page 5-21 for instructions on starter motor removal.
Remember to download other chapters of the FSM as you need them. The FSM is your bible for doing work or diagnosis on your car.
